Wissenssoziologie der kulturellen Wechselwirkungen: eine Skizze zur Methodologie einer interkulturell angelegten qualitativen Sozialforschung

Abstract

"Trotz der verstärkten Thematisierung der Interkulturalität in den Sozialwissenschaften fehlt bislang eine Methodologie der interkulturell angelegten qualitativen Sozialforschung. Vom Konzept der Kultur als Übersetzungsprozess ausgehend, wird hier ein Ansatz zu einer solchen Methodologie entwickelt. Dabei dient die Semantik der Heirat in der japanischen Kultur als Beispiel, an dem Schwierigkeiten und Möglichkeiten in einer interkulturellen Feldforschungssituation verdeutlicht werden. Es wird aufgezeigt, auf welche Weise das 'Fremde' und das 'Eigene' in einer Interviewsituation ausgehandelt und zum Ausdruck gebracht wird und wie dies in das Forschungsergebnis eingearbeitet werden kann. Davon ausgehend werden am Schluss methodologische Konsequenzen gezogen." (Autorenreferat)

"Although the problem of interculturality is intensively discussed in the socialsciences today there exists no methodology of empirical research of intercultural situations. Proceeding from the concept of 'culture as translationprocess' a first Stepp to such methodology is developed here. Thereby the semantic of marriage in the Japanese culture is used as an example dealing with difficulties and possibilities on fieldworks. This example demonstrates how the 'otherness' and the 'selfness' were negotiated and expressed in a interview situation and how it is possible bring these into results of research. Going from this point conclusions to a methodology are drawn at the end." (author's abstract)
