Die computergestützte Archivierung qualitativer Interviewdaten mit dem Datenbanksystem "QBiQ

Abstract

Im deutschsprachigen Raum werden qualitative Interviewdaten bisher kaum systematisch und umfassend archiviert. Für die qualitativen Längsschnittdaten des Sonderforschungsbereichs 186 "Statuspassagen und Risikolagen im Lebensverlauf" der Universität Bremen musste deshalb ein computergestütztes Konzept entwickelt werden, das geeignete Anonymisierungsstrategien und detaillierte Weitergabe- und Zugangsbedingungen für das sensible Datenmaterial enthält. Die Archivierung und Weitergabe der Daten sollte computergestützt erfolgen, da so nicht nur die Lagerkapazitäten der verbalen Daten um ein Vielfaches reduziert, sondern auch der Zugriff auf die elektronisch gespeicherten Dateien sehr schnell erfolgen kann. Mit "QBiQ" (sprich wie im Englischen für "cubic") wurde schließlich vom Sfb ein Datenbanksystem entwickelt, mit dem nicht nur qualitative und quantitative Daten gemeinsam verwaltet werden können, sondern das auch über die wichtigsten Grundfunktionen gängiger Textanalysesysteme verfügt (Kodierung des Datenmaterials, Erstellen verschiedener Arten von Textretrieval etc.). Darüber hinaus sollen zukünftig weitere Schnittstellen zu Textanalysesystemen programmiert werden, um einen Datenaustausch zwischen den verschiedenen Programmen zu ermöglichen.

In Germany up until now qualitative data material has rarely been comprehensively and systematically archived. At The Special Collaborative Centre 186 (Sfb 186), we responded to this situation by developing a computer-aided archiving concept for qualitative longitudinal data that also contains suitable strategies for anonymisation and detailed conditions for access and transmitting of data. We needed new computer technologies as it is very time-consuming to archive large amounts of qualitative material in paper form. The computer readable format offers several advantages; it reduces the amount of storage required, allows quick copying of the data and makes it feasible to selectively search the data for particular research questions. In addition, we are developing the database system "QBiQ" (pronounced "cubic") which not only archives qualitative and quantitative data in one system but it also provides main functions of common text analysis like coding, carrying out of text retrieval etc. Furthermore, it offers some useful interfaces for text analysis systems in order to facilitate the data exchange between different programs.

En Alemania, hasta ahora, el material de datos cualitativos rara vez ha sido archivado de manera comprensiva y sistemática. En el Centro de Colaboración Especial 186 (sfb 186) respondimos a esta situación desarrollando un concepto de archivo asistido por computadora para datos cualitativos longitudinales, que a la vez contiene estrategias adaptables a condiciones de anonimato y detalles para el acceso y la transmisión de datos. Necesitamos nueva tecnología de computación, ya que consume mucho tiempo archivar grandes cantidades de material cualitativo en papel. El formato legible de la computadora ofrece diversas ventajas: reduce la cantidad de almacenaje requerido, permite el rápido copiado de los datos y hace viable la búsqueda selectiva de datos para preguntas específicas de investigación. Estamos desarrollando, además, el sistema de base de datos QBiQ (pronunciado "cubic"), el cual no solamente archiva datos tanto cualitativos como cuantitativos en un mismo sistema, sino que además provee funciones fundamentales para el análisis de textos como la codificación, la recuperación del texto etc. Ofrece, además; algunas interfases útiles para los sistemas de análisis de textos que facilitan el intercambio de datos entre distintos programas.
