Bruno Latours Denken als performative Sozialwissenschaft

Abstract

Der Beitrag zur Debatte über performative Sozialwissenschaft in dieser Zeitschrift befragt Bruno Latours Denk- und Forschungspraxis nach der Verbindung von Kunst und Wissenschaft. Es wird gezeigt, dass Elemente ästhetischen Denkens in Latours theoretischer Architektur an zentraler Stelle integriert sind und wie sie Latours Wahrnehmen von Welt prägen. Im Anschluss wird argumentiert, dass Latour in seinem Denken und Forschen bewusst ästhetische Darstellungsformen einsetzt, um einerseits die Situiertheit seines Denkens und Forschens sichtbar zu machen und andererseits seiner Theorie als subversiver Praxis zu öffentlicher Wirksamkeit zu helfen. Abschließend wird mit Blick auf die documenta fifteen auf die ethisch-politischen Implikationen der bei Latour wirksamen Denktraditionen eingegangen.

As part of the debate about performative social science in this journal, this article questions Bruno Latour's thinking and research practice in terms of the interconnection of art and science. It is shown that the aesthetic holds a central position in Latour's theoretical architecture and how it shapes Latour's perception of the world. After that it is argued that Latour used aesthetic forms of representation in his thinking and research deliberately to, on the one hand, make visible the situatedness of his thinking and his research and, on the other hand, to help his theory become publicly visible as a subversive practice. Finally, with a view to the documenta fifteen, the article reflects on the ethical-political implications of the traditions of thought that are effective in Latour's work.
