The prevalence of violence - in particular against children and adolescents - is one of the great pending challenges in Peru. This paper uses data from the Young Lives longitudinal study with two objectives: first, to document the prevalence of experiences of physical and psychological violence suffered by children and adolescents; and second, to analyze the life cycle factors associated with the occurrence of these events. The study is based on data collected between 2002 and 2016. The available data allows to document experiences of interpersonal violence, in the family and couple environment, as well as in the community setting, for two groups: the minor cohort, which was followed up from the first year until 15; and the major cohort, followed from 8 to 22 years.... view less

La prevalencia de la violencia - especialmente aquella dirigida contra niñas, niños y adolescentes (NNA) - es uno de los grandes retos pendientes de resolver en el Perú. Este texto utiliza información del estudio longitudinal Niños del Milenio con dos objetivos: primero, documentar la prevalencia de experiencias de violencia física y psicológica que hayan sufrido los NNA; y segundo, analizar los factores de ciclo de vida asociados a la ocurrencia de estos eventos. El estudio se basa en información recolectada entre el 2002 y el 2016. La información disponible permite documentar experiencias de violencia interpersonal, en el entorno familiar y de pareja, así como en el entorno comunitario, para dos grupos: la cohorte menor, a la que se le realizó seguimiento desde el primer año hasta los 15; y la cohorte mayor, seguida desde los 8 hasta los 22 años.... view less
