Gewaltfreier Kampf und die Revolution in Ostdeutschland

Abstract

Diese Studie befasst sich mit der gewaltfreien Revolution in der DDR 1989 und wie es zu ihr kam. Sie besteht aus drei Teilen. Im ersten gibt der Autor eine kurze chronologische Übersicht über Widerstand und Revolution in Ostdeutschland. Im zweiten untersucht er die Rolle, die die Protestformen "Abwanderung" und "Widerspruch" beim Zusammenbruch des kommunistischen Regimes gespielt haben. Von dieser Analyse leitet er einige theoretische Folgerungen bezüglich der Dynamik des gewaltfreien Kampfes ab. Im dritten Teil ordnet er den ostdeutschen gewaltfreien Kampf in den gesellschaftlichen Kontext ein, der ermöglichte, dass der Kampf in seiner besonderen Form auftauchte. In einem abschließenden Teil macht er auf der Grundlage dieser Fallstudie einige vorläufige theoretische und methodologische Vorschläge für die weitere Untersuchung gewaltfreier direkter Aktionen. In seinem Nachwort kommentiert Eberhard Bürger, der als protestantischer Pfarrer die Revolution selbst miterlebt und mit gestaltet hat, das Papier und spricht insbesondere über die Rolle der Kirchen.

This study deals with the non-violent revolution in the GDR in 1989 and how it came about. It consists of three parts. In the first, the author gives a brief chronological overview of resistance and revolution in East Germany. In the second, he examines the role that the forms of protest "exodus" and "contradiction" played in the collapse of the communist regime. From this analysis he derives some theoretical conclusions on the dynamics of nonviolent struggle. In the third part he places the East German nonviolent struggle in the social context that enabled the struggle to emerge in its particular form. In a concluding part, based on this case study, he makes some preliminary theoretical and methodological suggestions for further study of nonviolent direct action.
