Zumutung und Machbarkeit: Schwangerschaftskonfliktberatung zwischen rechtlichem Zwang und professioneller Umdeutung

Abstract

Im Fokus des Beitrags steht das Deutungs- und Handlungswissen von Professionellen in der Schwangerschaftskonfliktberatung bei Pro Familia. Analysiert werden Auszüge aus explorativen Expert*inneninterviews. Die Untersuchung zeigt, dass sich die Interviewten aus einer politischen Perspektive von der gesetzlichen Pflichtberatung distanzieren. Zugleich legitimieren sie jedoch Beratung mit Bezug zu ihrer professionellen Rolle als Berater*innen als generell hilfreiches Angebot. So verschiebt sich die politische Grundsatzkritik im professionellen Diskurs in Richtung einer Affirmation von Beratung im Interesse der zu Beratenden. Zugleich zeigen sich Facetten eines übergreifenden Deutungsmusters: Beratung wird als Möglichkeitsraum der Entlastung, Selbstvergewisserung und Selbstbestimmung vor dem Hintergrund gesellschaftlicher Tabuisierungen und Stigmatisierungen konstruiert. Die Ergebnisse der explorativen Studie schließen damit sowohl an Zeitdiagnosen zur gesellschaftlichen Bedeutung von Beratung als auch an Diskurse feministischer Beratung an.

The article focusses on the knowledge of interpretation and practical knowledge of professionals in the field of counselling regarding pregnancies in conflict situations at Pro Familia by analysing excerpts from explorative expert interviews. The study shows how, from a political perspective, the interviewed experts distance themselves from the legal obligation to provide counselling. However, when it comes to their professional role as counsellors, they legitimise counselling as being generally helpful. As a result, the principle political criticism in the professional discourse shifts towards the affirmation of counselling in the clients' interest. At the same time, facets of an overarching pattern of interpretation emerge. Counselling is constructed as a possible means of supporting clients in terms of providing relief, self-assurance and self-determination against a backdrop of societal taboos and stigmatisation. The results of the explorative study are aligned with current diagnoses of the societal relevance of counselling as well as of discourses of feminist counselling.
