Person und Wert: Schelers "Formalismus" - Perspektiven und Wirkungen

Abstract

Max Scheler entwickelt die Frage nach 'Person' und 'Wert' in seiner 1913/16 veröffentlichten Schrift 'Der Formalismus in der Ethik und die materiale Wertekritik' im Rahmen einer phänomenologische geprägten Philosophie und als Gegenentwurf zur Kantischen Ethik. Die in diesem Werk von Scheler durchgeführten Analysen sind für die Grundlegung der Ethik wie auch für die Begründung einer phänomenologischen Erkenntnistheorie im 20. Jahrhundert wegweisend geworden. Die Beiträge des Sammelbandes diskutieren einerseits die philosophiehistorische Bedeutung, die dem Schelerschen Magnum opus zukommt, und sie loten andererseits die systematische Reichweite der Schelerschen Untersuchungen im Kontext gegenwärtiger Problemstellungen aus.

In his publication of 1913/1916 entitled 'Formalism in Ethics and Non-Formal Ethics of Values' Max Scheler develops the question of 'person' and 'value' within the framework of a phenomenologically influenced philosophy and as a counter-model to Kantian ethics. The analyses undertaken by Scheler in this work have determined the path of the foundation of ethics as well as the establishment of a phenomenological epistemology in the 20th century. The papers in this anthology discuss on the one hand the meaning which Scheler's magnum opus has for the history of philosophy, and on the other hand they plumb the systematic range of Scheler's investigations in the context of contem­porary problem areas.
