Die berufliche Qualifizierung von Erwerbstätigen findet überwiegend im Rahmen der betrieblichen Weiterbildung statt. Dabei ist der Zugang zu betrieblicher Weiterbildung ungleich verteilt. Der Beitrag untersucht vor diesem Hintergrund die Teilnahme von zugewanderten Erwerbstätigen an betrieblicher Weiterbildung auf Grundlage der Daten des AES-Migra 2016 (Erhebung zum Weiterbildungsverhalten von Personen mit Migrationshintergrund). Unter Rückgriff auf bildungsökonomische und segmentationstheoretische Ansätze wird geprüft, ob ein Zusammenhang zwischen migrationsbezogenen Faktoren (Aufenthaltsstatus, Deutschkenntnisse, Herkunft/Anerkennung von Berufsabschlüssen) und der Weiterbildungsteilnahme besteht. Im Ergebnis zeigt sich, dass unter Berücksichtigung von Merkmalen des Erwerbskontextes die migrationsbezogenen Prädiktoren der Teilnahme an statistischer Bedeutung verlieren.... view less

The vocational qualification of employed persons predominantly takes place within company settings. At the same time, access to employer-supported training is unevenly distributed. This paper examines the participation in employer-supported training of immigrant employees on the basis of data from the AES-Migra 2016. With reference to approaches like the economics of education and segmentation theory, the paper assesses the extent to which a relationship between migration-specific factors (residence status, German language skills, origin/recognition of vocational qualifications) and participation in employer-supported training exists. The results indicate that migration-specific predictors of participation lose statistical significance when characteristics of the employment context are considered.... view less
