%T Shrinking Niches for Independent Journalism: The Case of Vedomosti %A Somfalvy, Esther %J Russian Analytical Digest %N 258 %P 8-11 %D 2020 %K Russia; media policy; censorship; investigative journalism %@ 1863-0421 %> https://nbn-resolving.org/urn:nbn:de:0168-ssoar-88321-1 %X In Summer 2020 all leading editorial staff of the business newspaper Vedomosti resigned in protest over theappointment of a new editor-in-chief after the alleged interference of its main creditor, Rosneftbank. In thisarticle, I summarize the chain of events that led to the mass walkout and highlight the context in which ittook place.
