1975: año de la orientalidad – el cuerpo / moral en el proceso de reorganización nacional

Abstract

Este trabajo se sitúa en el contexto histórico de lo que dio en llamarse el Proceso de Reorganización Nacional que se desarrolló en la última dictadura "cívico militar" del Uruguay (1973-1985). Con la ritualización y el festejo del "Año de la Orientalidad" en 1975, se define el deber ser patriótico. Allí la educación física - fuertemente militarizada - adquiere un rol central en la producción ejemplarizante de un cuerpo/moral. Se analizan fragmentos discursivos desde una mirada foucaultiana y se tiende una línea entre algunas dimensiones represivas y productivas del poder que se desplegaron sobre lo corporal en ese momento.

This paper is situated in the historical context of the so-called National Reorganisation Process developed during the last civic-military dictatorship in Uruguay (1973-1985). Together with the ritualisation and celebration of the "Year of Orientality" in 1975, the patriotic ethics is defined. Serving a central role, the highly militarized Physical Education sets the example in the construction of morality in terms of the body. Discourse fragments are analysed from a Foucouldian point of view and connections are drawn between both repressive and productive dimensions of power, established upon the body schema in those times.
