FORBA und SORA analysierten in einer gemeinsamen Studie die Bewertung von wohlfahrtsstaatlichen Leistungen in Österreich. Im Anschluss an eine Sekundärdatenanalyse aus dem European Social Survey 2016 wurden in einer qualitativen Studie 40 Beschäftigte aus drei ländlichen Regionen an ihrem Arbeitsplatz interviewt. Wie verlaufen Bewertungen des Wohlfahrtsstaates abhängig von der Region, in der die Befragten erwerbstätig sind? Inwiefern hat außerdem die Zugehörigkeit zu einer bestimmten Berufsgruppe prägende Wirkungen? Wesentliche Ergebnisse sind: Bis auf wenige Ausnahmen äußert die große Mehrheit der 40 Interviewten eine ausgeprägte Zustimmung zum österreichischen Wohlfahrtsstaat. Es dominieren zwei Muster: a) eine hohe Zustimmung inklusive Solidarität für sozial schwache Gruppen und b) eine Orientierung am Beitrags- bzw. Reziprozitätsprinzip. In a joint study, FORBA and SORA analyzed the assessment of welfare benefits in Austria. Following a secondary data analysis from the European Social Survey 2016, 40 employees in three rural regions were interviewed at their workplace. What are the differences in assessments of aspects of the welfare state, depending on the region in which respondents are employed? To which extent does belonging to a certain professional group have a formative impact? The main results include: With a few exceptions, a vast majority of the 40 respondents express a pronounced endorsement of the Austrian welfare state. Two patterns are dominant: a) a high level of approval including solidarity for socially disadvantaged groups and b) an orientation towards the contributory principle and the reciprocity principle.
