La UNAM, su gratuidad y su autonomía: elementos para un debate

Abstract

El tema de los cobros por inscripción y colegiaturas en la UNAM ha sido motivo de movimientos estudiantiles cada vez que se han querido aumentar. El punto central de controversia en los últimos años ha sido sobre la constitucionalidad o inconstitucionalidad de las cuotas en las universidad instituciones públicas de educación superior no deben ser gratuitas, aquí se trata de demostrar que sí deben ser gratuitas. Este tema tiene que ver, asimismo, con el concepto de autonomía de la Universidad Nacional desde los arios posteriores a la Revolución de 1910.

Entrance fees and tuition in the unam have been cause for student movements each time an increase is tried. Considering whether fees in public universities is constitutional or not, has been a central point of controversy in the last few years. Going against those who argue the UNAM -and public higher-learning institutions in general- should not be free of charge, the author tries to demonstrate they should be. In addition, this subject has to do with the concept of the autonomy of the National University wer since the years following the Mexican Revolution of 1910.
