La reelección parlamentaria inmediata: un reto en la agenda política de México

Abstract

El papel que se le asigna a la reelección inmediata de los legisladores en el proyecto de renovación institucional emprendido por México es motivo de hondas discrepancias entre los partidos políticos. Para unos, el fortalecimiento del Poder Legislativo necesariamente pasa por su reestablecimiento en la Constitución. Para otros, las enmiendas que deben realizarse deben ser de corte diverso. Ante este panorama, este escrito se pregunta qué hay detrás de esa figura, cuáles han sido las consecuencias de su prohibición para el país, y qué intereses se encuentran actualmente en juego en el fallo de los legisladores con relación al asunto.

The roll of reelection without restrictions in Mexico's institutional renovation is object of profound disagreement among political parties. For some, strengthening Legislative Power requires its reestablishment in the Constitution. For others, the reforms needed must go by other paths. In this view, this article asks what lies behind this figure, what have been the consequences of its prohibition in the past, and what interests are actually in play in those positions defended by legislators in relation to this matter.
