Die Implikationen des Syrienkriegs und die Neuordnung türkischer Prioritäten

Abstract

Zu Beginn der Umwälzungen im arabischen Raum bestand die Erwartungshaltung, die Türkei würde von diesen in besonderem Maße profitieren und schließlich als einer der größten Gewinner des Arabischen Frühlings dastehen. Etwa sechs Jahre nach Beginn des Kriegs in Syrien lässt sich jedoch feststellen, dass genau das Gegenteil eingetreten ist. Die Türkei sieht sich mit einer Vielzahl von Herausforderungen und Problemen sowohl für ihre innere Stabilität und Sicherheit als auch Außenbeziehungen konfrontiert. Dieses Papier analysiert diese Implikationen des Syrienkriegs für die Türkei und zeichnet die Verschiebungen in ihren Prioritätensetzungen im Hinblick auf Syrien nach.

At the onset of the Arab Spring, the expectation was that the developments and upheavals in Arab countries would highly benefit Turkey that would finally stand out as one of the main winners. Around six years after fighting started in Syria, it is obvious that the exact opposite has materialized. In terms of both domestic stability and security as well as foreign relations, Turkey is confronted with a multitude of challenges and problems. This paper analyzes the implications of the Syrian War for Turkey and traces back the rearrangement of its priorities relating to Syria.
