Tejiendo voces: jóvenes universitarios opinan sobre la apropiación de internet en la vida académica

Abstract

En este artículo, las autoras reportan algunos de los resultados de una investigación más amplia titulada "Tecnologías de información en la comunidad académica de la UNAM: acceso, uso y apropiación". El objetivo de ésta fue realizar un diagnóstico sobre las prácticas cotidianas de la comunidad académica de la UNAM acerca del acceso, uso y apropiación de las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación, tic, en materia educativa. Los resultados indican que existen diferencias tanto por área como por el semestre que cursa el alumno, ya que mientras para los estudiantes de las áreas biológicas y de la salud; físico-matemáticas y de las ingenierías, las TIC son recursos fundamentales en las actividades académicas y la vida en general, para los estudiantes de Ciencias Sociales son instrumentos de socialización. Por su parte, los de Humanidades y Artes las perciben como herramientas secundarias en el ámbito académico y de socialización. El conocimiento acerca de los recursos ofrecidos por la UNAM aumenta en la medida en que los estudiantes cursan semestres más avanzados, no sólo por una información natural, producto de la convivencia universitaria cotidiana, sino por la necesidad de realizar su trabajo de titulación.

In this article, the authors report some of the results of a wider investigation titled "Technologies of Information in the Academic Community of unam: access, use and adaptation". The object of this was to realize a diagnosis on the daily practices of the academic community in UNAM on access, use and adaptation of the information and communication technologies, tic, in education material. The results indicate that there are differences in areas as well as in the semester that the student courses, since while for the students of biological areas and health and physics-mathematics and engineering, the TIC are fundamental resources the academic activities and life in general, for the students of Social Sciences these are instruments of socialization. Humanities and Arts, on the other hand, consider them as secondary tools in the academic sphere and of socialization. The knowledge on the resources offered by the UNAM increases to the degree in which the students take more advanced semesters not only thru a natural information, product of their daily university coexistence, but also for the need to realize their thesis for their degree.
