Wi(e)der-Vereinbarkeiten: eine autoethnographische Skizze zur Sorgekrise

Abstract

In dem Beitrag untersuche ich Elternschaft im Kontext der Sorgekrise, in der Zeit und Räume für Selbst- und Fürsorge zerstört werden. In autoethnographischer Form gehe ich den Widersprüchen von Elternschaft und Erwerbstätigkeit nach. Ich setze die erfahrene (Un-)Vereinbarkeit in Zusammenhang mit neoliberalen Transformationen von Elternschaft, die als Ergebnis einer Kooption feministischer Forderungen begriffen werden können und die zu Tendenzen von Retraditionalisierung und Modernisierung führen. So eröffnen sich für manche neue Freiheiten in Bezug auf die Organisation von Re/Produktionstätigkeiten - wie das von mir mitunter gelebte "female breadwinner und male caregiver"-Modell. Gleichzeitig verschärfen neoliberale Privatisierung und Individualisierung die Sorgekrise, die insbesondere von Frauen* und Sorgebedürftigen ausgetragen wird. Mein besonderes Interesse gilt der Frage, inwiefern die Sorgekrise Möglichkeiten eröffnet, Sorgeverantwortung anders zu organisieren und emanzipatorische Praxen der Sorge zu befördern.

In this article I discuss parenting in the context of the care crisis, i.e. the constant destruction of the time and space necessary for both self-care and the care of others. Using the method of autoethnography, I examine the contradictions of parenting and full-time employment. I explain my experiences of the care crisis in relation to neoliberal transformations of parenting, which I read as the cooptation of feminist claims. They both modernize and traditionalize gender relations. On the one hand, there are new liberties when it comes to organizing production and reproduction, like the model of female breadwinner and male caregiver which I have at times lived, but these do not apply to everybody. On the other hand, neoliberal privatization and individualization are aggravating the care crisis, the burden of which is above all being carried by women* and those in need of care. My particular interest is the possibilities as regards a new organization of care and emancipatory care practices.
