Dieser Aufsatz nimmt die in den subjektivierten Arbeitsprozessen an Bedeutung zunehmende Selbstoptimierung aus psychoanalytisch-sozialpsychologischer Perspektive in den Blick. Er zeigt auf, dass der Selbstoptimierung neben der arbeitsorganisatorischen auch eine psychodynamische Bedeutung zukommt. Dabei wird von der These ausgegangen, dass das Ichideal den psychischen Repräsentanten eines übersteigerten und unrealistischen neoliberalen Leistungsprinzips darstellt, wodurch das Subjekt fortwährend mit einem individualisierten Scheitern konfrontiert wird. Das Resultat sind verstärkte Minderwertigkeitsgefühle und Versagensängste. In diesem Zusammenhang kann die Optimierung des Selbst als eine Form der psychosozialen Angstabwehr verstanden werden, welche jedoch durch die damit einhergehenden widersprüchlichen Gefühle von Ohnmacht und Ermächtigung ein unauflösbares Spannungsverhältnis birgt.... view less

This article explores self-optimization, which is gaining importance within subjectified work processes through a psycho-analytical social-psychological lens. It demonstrates the psycho-dynamic significance of self-optimization besides the optimization of work structures. The underlying assumption is the ego ideal as psychological representative of the inflated and unrealistic neoliberal performance principle, in which the subject is constantly confronted with individualized failure. As a result the subject experiences a sense of inferiority and fears to fail. In this context self-optimization can be regarded as a type of psycho-social ›defense against anxiety‹, whereby the related contradictory emotions of empowerment and powerlessness entail inextricable tensions.... view less
