Zwischen Frankreich und Deutschland hat sich in den letzten zehn Jahren ein wirtschaftliches Gefälle entwickelt. Während Deutschland nach Reformen und Strukturanpassungen eine neue Wachstums- und Beschäftigungsdynamik verzeichnet, kämpft Frankreich mit wirtschaftlicher Stagnation, Entindustrialisierung und sinkender Wettbewerbsfähigkeit. Strukturelle Unterschiede beider Wirtschaftsmodelle, insbesondere unterschiedliche wirtschaftspolitische Weichenstellungen, sind für das Gefälle verantwortlich. Frankreich steht vor der schwierigen Aufgabe, lange verzögerte Strukturreformen zu realisieren und gleichzeitig die öffentlichen Finanzen zu konsolidieren. Allerdings muss das kontrastreiche Bild nuanciert werden. Hinter den deutschen Erfolgen verbergen sich einige Probleme, und bei allen Schwierigkeiten verfügt die französische Wirtschaft auch über Stärken. Wirtschaftspolitisch könnten sich beide Länder annähern, weil Deutschland vor einer sozialen Agenda und vor neuen öffentlichen Investitionen steht, die die Binnennachfrage verstärken dürften. In Frankreich könnte der Reform- und Konsolidierungskurs die gegenwärtigen Probleme allmählich überwinden. Dadurch sind auch neue wirtschaftspolitische Konvergenzen im Euroraum denkbar.... view less
During the past ten years, the economies of Germany and France developed in divergent ways. During the past ten years, the economies of Germany and France developed in divergent ways. Germany was able to largely overcome its economic deficiencies through reforms and structural adjustments, and experiences now new dynamics of growth and employment, whereas France struggles with economic stagnation, deindustrialization and decreasing competitiveness. Structural differences between both economic models and notably the setting of different courses can be hold responsible for the divergence. France faces the difficult task to bring about structural reforms which were delayed for a long time, and at the same time to consolidate the public finances. However, this picture rich in contrasts should be nuanced. As much as some problems stand behind the German success, the French economy also has strong points. Both countries could come closer to one another in terms of economic policy, because Germany faces a social agenda and new public investments, which should strengthen the domestic demand. In France, the path of reforms and consolidation could gradually overcome the omnipresent problems. Thus, new convergences in terms of economic policy are conceivable.... view less
