Abstract

The revised edition of this standard reference includes well-founded statistic data and current research reports relating to scientific qualifications in doctorate and post-doctorate phases as well as to career paths, employment conditions and professional prospects of doctoral graduates in Germany. Thus, it provides an important basis for discussions and the further development of political and legal framework conditions relating to the central higher education policies of junior scientific staff. Furthermore, the report touches upon questions of the higher education development, organisation and the educational policies to EU levels.

Die Neuauflage des Standardwerks enthält fundierte statistische und aktuelle Forschungsbefunde zur wissenschaftlichen Qualifizierung in der Promotions- und Post-doc-Phase sowie zu Karrierewegen, Beschäftigungsbedingungen und beruflichen Perspektiven Promovierter in Deutschland. Der Band bildet damit eine wichtige Grundlage zur Diskussion und Weiterentwicklung der politischen und gesetzlichen Rahmenbedingungen für das zentrale hochschulpolitische Thema des wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchses.
