Der Beitrag greift Überlegungen eines konzeptionellen Beitrags von Dohle, Jandura und Vowe (2014) auf, in dem die Autoren einen auf die Diffusion des Internets zurückzuführenden strukturellen Wandel der politischen Kommunikation postulieren. Auf der Grundlage der Mediatisierungsthese und integrativer Sozialtheorien wird erläutert, wie ein Test der im Beitrag aufgeworfenen Thesen erfolgen kann. Anhand von Eurobarometer-Daten wird anschließend eine empirische Prüfung ausgewählter Thesen durchgeführt. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass die zentralen Hypothesen des Beitrags, die sich auf das Niveau oder die Stärke der Zusammenhänge in den drei Ländergruppen mit unterschiedlicher Online-Mediatisierung beziehen, überwiegend nicht bestätigt werden konnten.... view less

The paper discusses the conceptual ideas of an article published by Dohle, Jandura and Vowe (2014). In their article the authors postulated that the diffusion of the internet provoked structural changes in political communication. Based on the mediatization approach and integrative social theories a model for testing the stated hypotheses was proposed. Using Eurobarometer data some of the hypotheses were scrutinized. The results show, that the principal assumptions concerning the level and the strength of effects in the three country-groups with different levels of online-mediatization, remain predominantly unsupported by the data.... view less
