Der Beitrag reflektiert die Herausforderungen interdisziplinären Zusammenarbeitens. Als Grundlage und Beispiel für Best Practice in diesem Bereich dient das Lehrprojekt Globale Systeme und interkulturelle Kompetenz (GSiK) der Universität Würzburg. Das 2008 gegründete Projekt zeichnet sich durch eine interdisziplinäre Anbieter- (zehn Fachbereiche bzw. Institutionen) und Zielgruppe (Studierende aller Fachbereiche) aus. Der Beitrag grenzt Interdisziplinarität von Multidisziplinarität ab. Demnach wäre erstere mehr als ein bloßes disziplinäres Nebeneinander: Sie besteht in aktivem Austausch und gegenseitigem Voneinander-Lernen. Darüber hinaus wird die These skizziert, dass interdisziplinäre Zusammenarbeit sich ähnlichen (wenn nicht gleichen) kommunikativen Herausforderungen gegenüber sieht wie interkulturelle. This article reflects upon challenges of working together across scientific disciplines. With regard to this the study program Global Systems and Intercultural Competence (GSIC) run by the University of Wuerzburg serves as example of best practice. Established in 2008 it features an interdisciplinary group of teachers (ten disciplines / institutions) as well as an interdisciplinary target group (students from all subjects of study). The article defines interdisciplinarity as different from multidisciplinarity: the former being active collobaration the latter solely friendly co-existence. Moreover it sketches the idea that interdisciplinarity faces similar (if not equal) communicative challenges as interculturality. Accordingly an increased struggle is required in order to enhance successful collaboration.
