(Autorenreferat)... view less

'The parliamentary elections due to be held in March 1998 will be the first since the adoption of the new Constitution and will thus put Ukrainian democracy and the multi-party system to the test. The political parties have for some time been in the throes of an electoral fever that is dominating their strategy. The electoral marathon in Ukraine got under way in early 1997, a year before the scheduled elections, and this has vitalised the party landscape. Almost every month sees the birth of new parties and coalitions, many of them with only one aim: to get into parliament. This makes it very likely that these alliances are instable and could fall apart after the elections.' (author's abstract)... view less
