(Textauszug)... view less

'The gross domestic product (GDP), along with the country's resources potential, is considered the main indicator of Russia's economic performance capability. The information provided by the official Russian statistics (Goskomstat Rossii) on the gross domestic product requires some interpretation and combination with other statistical data. For the purposes of international comparisons, the purchasing power parities ascertained for Russia by the OECD in co-operation with Goskomstat may expediently be used to correct the undesired statistical effects of an exchange rate that diverges widely from purchasing power parity. The present study deals with the size, structure and development of the Russian gross domestic product in the period from 1995 to 1999. It pays particular attention to international comparability.'
