The University of Antioquia –U. of A.– is one of the universities that in Colombia have been leading for several decades the formulation and continuous development of the called "Users Formation Programs". This leadership in the last years, and still much to do, has experienced strong advances as a result of processes of continuous quality improvement (since the perspective of the ISO Norm and the Academic-Institutional Accreditations) that the University has taken, and particularly, its System of Libraries and the Inter-American School of Information Science –IASIS–. This has permitted to qualify the development of these Programs seeking to reach a more extensive perspective of the same, which implies the passage of the traditional tendency of the Education Programs in Library Users (the services of the library), and the differentiation with the Digital Literacy (skills for using ICT), to the philosophy and practice of the Information Literacy –INFOLIT– like a way for the permanent learning and the generation of academic and scientific knowledge for the different university groups: students, professors, researchers, directors. This text, presented as a contribution to this subject: (1)A structured analysis of the situation that in relation to INFOLIT this University has lived and is living, considering three perspectives (“arenas”), applicable as a diagnostic model to any university or education institution concerning different INFOLIT components, and specific contributions to this state of its library system and the IASIS. (2)A proposed classification for the U. of A., applicable to other educational contexts, called “Categorization of the integration levels of the Information Literacy for universities, university departments and faculties-schools of library science/documentation/information science”.... view less
