(Autorenreferat)... view less

"This paper examines the influence of the presence of trade union officials in supervisory boards along with several other governance and performance variables on: (1) the change of the number of a companies' employees from one year to another and (2) on the employee-sales elasticity (defined as the relationship between the percent change of the number of employees and the percent change of the sales figures from year to year). Our sample consists of German listed industrial companies. We find evidence that the presence of union officials has a negative impact on dynamics of employment." (author's abstract)... view less
