"The co-manager type is receiving increasing attention in the discussion about works councils. This article looks at whether different types of works councils organize their work and use the resources at their disposal in different ways. The empirical basis is a written survey of all works councils in public transport companies in Germany. It shows that the internal work organization of co-manager councils is much more professionalized compared with the conventional, engaged and ambitious works councils. At the same time, it distinguishes itself by involving the workforce more intensively, thus acquiring additional human resources." (author's abstract)... view less
