Supply and disposal systems are the mediators and catalysts of material exchange between man and nature. They therefore represent a signifi cant condition for the development and
reproductive capability of both society and nature. Their implementation thus directly infl uences
their capacity to satisfy human requirements and preserve, renew and, if possible,
improve the natural foundations of life. It is signifi cant in this respect whether and how we
will be able to shape the economic, socio-cultural and ecological development of society
in an integrative way. The normative base of present and future infrastructure planning for
supply and disposal is therefore deemed the model for sustainability. The necessity for
comprehensive cooperation between infrastructure planning, environmental planning and spatial planning is evident from the socio-ecological perspective of supply and disposal
infrastructures as a specific historical method of regulating natural social relationships.... view less
