Researching with NVivo

Abstract

Dieser Artikel ist Teil des Experiments im Rahmen der KWALON-Konferenz in April 2010. Mit Blick auf zeitliche Restriktionen und fehlende Forschungserfahrungen einiger der Personen, die auf unserer Seite am Experiment teilnahmen, entschieden wir uns für einen Teamansatz bei der Datenanalyse, und wir beschränkten uns zudem auf deskriptives Kodieren. Der Beitrag ist entlang der "Instruktionen für die Software-Entwickler/innen" und der vorgegebenen Forschungsfragen des KWALON-Experiments strukturiert. Obwohl für die Datenanalyse Software genutzt wurde und insoweit mehr Optionen verfügbar waren als im Falle ihrer Nichtnutzung, sind die Ergebnisse der Analyse ganz wesentlich von den Forschenden und weiteren Faktoren wie der zur Verfügung stehenden Zeit beeinflusst statt von der eingesetzten Software selbst.

This paper is based on a project created for the KWALON conference in April, 2010. Due to time constraints and the lack of research experience of some of the people working on the project, we took a team based approach to develop the analysis, and focused on descriptive coding. This paper addresses both the items for reflection in the "instructions for developers" and the research question posed. Though the analysis of the data was done using software which enabled more to be done than would otherwise have been the case, it is argued that the results obtained are influenced by the researchers themselves, and factors such as the time available, rather than the software itself.

Este artículo se basa en un proyecto creado para la conferencia KWALON de abril, 2010. Debido a limitaciones de tiempo y falta de experiencia de investigación de algunas personas que trabajaron en el proyecto, adoptamos un enfoque de trabajo en quipo para desarrollar el análisis y nos enfocamos en la codificación descriptiva. El artículo aborda a la vez los elementos para la reflexión de las "instrucciones para los desarrolladores" y la pregunta de investigación planteada. Aunque el análisis de los datos fue realizado usando software, lo que permitió hacer más de lo que hubiese sido hecho, se argumenta que los resultados obtenidos están influidos por los investigadores, y factores tales como el tiempo disponible y no por el software mismo.
