'On the basis of a mail respectively questionnaire survey among the adult population in Dresden a comparison is done between random- and quota samples and a study of the selection processes. Students are used as interviewers in the quota sample. With regard to the social characteristics, attitudes and behavior great similarities emerge. Where differences exist they affect above an the degree of social activity: respondents in quota samples are socially more active. Not the easy to reach, who stay at home, have a greater chance of being recruited into quota samples but the socially active who are visible and accessible in their social networks.'
