This study examined the depiction of political ideologies and power dynamics in Nigerian films through a cinematic lens. Employing critical discourse analysis, it delves into how the film "King of Boys" reflected real-world political scenarios, power dynamics and cultural influences. By analyzing the narratives, characters and visual elements, this study aimed to uncover the ways in which Nigerian film makers convey complex political concepts, critique societal norms and engage audiences in thought- provoking discussions about governance and authority. This study highlighted the importance of film as a platform for both artistic expression and socio-political commentary within the Nigerian context. Anchored on the Cultivation theory, this study showed how the cinematic lens of Nigerian films cultivates specific beliefs and attitudes towards the different political ideologies displayed by individuals and groups by exploring the impact of media content on audience perceptions, shedding light on the potential role of movies in shaping societal views on political issues.The study recommended among others that Nigerian film makers should focus on accurate and realistic depictions of the country's political and social landscape when creating films in order to avoid stereotypes and clichés ensuring that they represent a variety of perspectives and experiences evident in the Nigerian society.... weniger
