The article describes how the Union of Russian Rural and Urban Figures (Zemgor) was established in Prague in the 1920s and how it helped Russian emigrants in Czechoslovakia. The author shows how the role of this institution changed with time depending on the needs of Russian emigrants. The ways Zemgor could assist varied from providing humanitarian aid to giving legal assistance. There is a big emphasis on how prominent the role of Zemgor was when Russian emigrants were adjusting to a new life.... view less
