As low-threshold and easily accessible service providers, local pharmacies are important in providing healthcare to the population. To meet the demographic challenges and ensure comprehensive health care, pharmacies must improve the interconnection with other players in the healthcare system through the use of information and communication technologies (ICT). In this study, qualitative interviews (n = 10) were conducted to investigate the technology acceptance of pharmacy staff along the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT). The determinants of performance expectations, effort expectations, social influences, and facilitating framework conditions may also be crucial for the behavioral intention to use ICT among pharmacy personnel. In addition to differentiating these theory-based determinants, the results of the interviews also allow for initial conclusions regarding the occupational group, the pharmacy location, and the information behavior as further factors influencing the technology acceptance of pharmacy staff. Context-specific modification of the UTAUT is recommended for further investigations of pharmacy staff’s technology acceptance.... view less
