Die vorliegende Kurzexpertise präsentiert aktualisierte und belastbare Informationen zur Entwicklung der Strukturen selbstständiger Erwerbstätigkeit in Deutschland, zu ihrer individuellen Dynamik, sowie zur Einkommenslage und Alterssicherung von Selbstständigen. Selbstständige verfügen in der Regel über mehr berufliche Autonomie als abhängig Beschäftigte, sind jedoch vergleichsweise höheren Einkommensrisiken ausgesetzt. Diese Risiken können sich, da der Großteil der selbstständig Erwerbstätigen bisher nicht obligatorisch rentenversichert ist, je nach persönlicher Vorsorgebereitschaft und finanziellen Vorsorgemöglichkeiten auch auf die Alterssicherung übertragen. Dies gilt insbesondere bei Solo-Selbstständigen, die häufiger nur niedrige - und auch volatile - Einkommen erzielen, was eine regelmäßige und auskömmliche Altersvorsorge erschwert.... view less

This report presents updated and reliable information on the development of the structures of self-employment in Germany, on its dynamics on the individual level, as well as on the income situation and old-age provision of self-employed persons. Self-employed have more professional autonomy than employees, but they are exposed to comparatively higher income risks. Since the majority of self-employed persons are not yet part of the mandatory pension insurance in Germany, these risks can also be transferred to old-age provision, depending on the individual willingness to make provisions and the amount of precautionary savings. This is particularly true for solo self-employed persons, who often earn only low - and also volatile - incomes, which makes regular and adequate retirement provision difficult.... view less
