Die arbeitssoziologische Forschung bewegt sich in ihrer Rolle als kritische Aufklärerin seit jeher an der Schnittstelle zwischen Wissenschaft und Praxis und ist in der Folge nie nur Beobachterin, sondern immer auch (Mit-)Gestalterin betrieblicher Praxis - und damit normativ. Obwohl in aktuellen Beiträgen Fragen der Gestaltung breit revitalisiert werden, bleibt eine genauere Klärung dessen, was unter "Gestaltung" zu verstehen ist, in der Arbeits- und Industriesoziologie (AIS) überraschenderweise bislang noch aus. Der Beitrag nimmt sich genau dieser Leerstelle an und entwickelt dabei die These, dass die AIS nicht nur mit einem aufklärerischen Verständnis von Gestaltung operiert, sondern mit einem normativ-aktivierenden. In its role as enlightener, research in the sociology of work (AIS) has always moved at the interface between science and practice and, as a consequence, is never merely an observer but always also a (co-)shaper of workplace - and thus normative. Although questions of social shaping of technology are widely revitalized in recent contributions, a more precise clarification of what is to be understood by "shaping" has surprisingly been lacking in AIS so far. This article addresses precisely this void, developing the thesis that AIS operates not only with an enlightenment understanding of shaping, but with a normative-activist one. Precisely because scientific resonance also depends on how science communication can succeed with regard to those addressees who do not agree with one's own values, the question of possible further developments of the existing understanding of shaping follows.... view less
