La caída del Muro de Berlín fue recibida como la señal de que el mundo abrazaría tanto al capitalismo que había derrotado al comunismo como a la democracia que había derrotado al totalitarismo. No obstante, a raíz de la caída del Muro se dieron varias trasformaciones (geopolíticas, ideológicas y tecnológicas) que afectaron la manera de hacer política en la mayor parte de los países del mundo. La consecuencia más directa de estos fenómenos fue el surgimiento de una forma política que se ha denominado de manera ambigua "populista". The fall of the Berlin Wall was received as the signal that the world would embrace both capitalism, which had defeated communism, and democracy, which had overpowered totalitarianism. However, following the fall of the wall several transformations (geopolitical
ideological and technological) affected the way of conducting politics in most countries of the world. The most direct consequence of these phenomena was the emergence of a political form that has been ambiguously termed "populist". The main argument of this article is that the current political forms are truly original and that we are incorrectly using a concept that has been recycled from the past for a new phenomenon because we do not yet have a name for it.... view less
