Der Beitrag fokussiert die Methode der Ethnographie als Möglichkeit, sich mit dem Zusammenhang von Hilfen zur Erziehung und Bildungsungleichheit auseinanderzusetzen. Vorliegende theoretische Ansätze zur Erklärung von Bildungsungleichheit werden für die Konstellation Familie, Schule und Hilfen zur Erziehung weiterentwickelt. Dabei wird das Verhältnis von lebensweltlicher und institutionalisierter Bildung für die familienergänzenden oder -ersetzenden Settings neu gefasst. Ethnographische Entdeckungen werden exemplarisch an schulischen Übergängen, Peerkultur in Schule und der Rücknahme einer Einwilligungserklärung nachvollzogen. Forschungsethische Fragen runden die Diskussion von produktiven Irritationen für das Erkenntnisinteresse und von Herausforderungen ethnographischer Forschung ab.... view less

This article focuses on the ethnographic method as a useful means to approach the link between the two fields of child-raising care and educational inequality. Existing theoretical approaches to explain educational inequality are extended for the arrangement of family, school and childraising care. This allows to put the interrelation of education within the social environment and institutional education for family support settings and settings of family substitution into a new perspective. Ethnographic discoveries are exemplified with regard to school transitions, peer cultures at school and the withdrawal of an informed consent.
