The main criticism is that French politicians are focussing on a dialogue with country-specific associations that stem from the Muslim countries of origin instead of gearing their attention toward the descendants of immigrants, who have been socialized in France and view their faith within the context of French society as a whole. The latter are more interested in engaging in a genuine debate on the freedom of religion than in claiming specific minority rights.... view less
