Objective: To characterize the quality of life of people with leprosy in outpatient treatment. Method: Exploratory-descriptive quantitative study with 59 subjects. To obtain the socioeconomic and clinical data of individuals used the questionnaire, and for the quality of life, the Short Medical Outcomes Study 36 - Item Short-Form Health Survey SF-36. Data analysis was adopted IBM SPSS statistical software. Results: 78% multibacillary; males 54,3%; mean age 45,9%years; economically active 67%. The SF-36 shows average scores calculated values up to score 50, but the physical and emotional aspects (score <50) Age was correlated to the areas of functional capacity and physical aspects, while sex was associated with mental health. Conclusion: The investigated population has adequate quality of life, though, it is observed that this is affected by the disease.... weniger
