"In Germany Family Midwifes act in the field of early intervention and operate between healthcare and child and youth care. Contrary to ordinary midwifes, they aim to focus on the family as a whole system, which seems to be quite a challenge. The secondary analysis of interviews with Family Midwifes and ethnographic data refering to house calls of Family Midwifes show two results: (1) Family Midwifes primarily address mothers as caregivers rather than fathers. (2) If fathers are addressed this happens in different ways (e.g. fathers as a secondary reference person, invisible fathers)." (author's abstract)... view less
