[Autorenreferat]... view less

"Civil‐Military relations in Turkey are in a state of flux. While the pashas (as generals are traditionally referred to in Turkey) were not subject to any civilian control in past times, today, many retired and active officers are facing legal action for allegedly plotting to overthrow the government. What is more, since April 4th, 2012, for the first time in the country's history, two former generals have been standing trial for the leading role they played during the 1980 coup d'état. This policy paper summarizes the developments of recent months and examines the process of normalization in civilmilitary relations in Turkey." [author's abstract]... view less
