(Autorenreferat)... view less

"Many companies - and works councils - have already established a pragmatic
approach towards the newly installed forms of interest representation in European
works councils. This is the main finding of a survey covering all German-based companies
which fall under the provisions of the European Works Council-Directive.
Where European works councils are already installed, companies pay the operating
costs as well as offering consultation rights. In addition, employee representatives
from Central and Eastern Europe are increasingly included in European works
councils. Conflicts arise regarding the question of which companies fall under the
Directive. It is surprising that quite a few employee and management representatives
have not dealt with the issue more intensively yet despite the explosive nature of the
topic." (author's abstract)... view less
