Um das Ausmaß und die Arten der sozialen und politischen Bindungen von Lehrern festzustellen, werden für die Analyse von Daten, die aus Archiven stammen, quantitative Methoden benutzt. Zur Ermittlung der Gründe und Wirkungen der Handlungsweisen der Lehrer werden die Ergebnisse mit langfristigen Entwicklungen in der Gesellschaft, der Politik und der Situation der Lehrer in den Gesellschaften im Zusammenhang betrachtet.
