Mediensozialisation - ein Desiderat zur Erforschung von Medienwelten: Versuch einer Standortbestimmung und Perspektivik

Abstract

"Dass Kindheit und Jugend weitgehend von Medien bestimmte Phasen sind, gilt zumindest in der medienpädagogischen Diskussion als selbstverständlich. Mithin müssten auch Entwicklung und Sozialisation von Medien nachhaltig beeinflusst werden. Von dieser These ausgehend, fragt der Beitrag zunächst bei den dafür verantwortlichen Disziplinen, der Entwicklungspsychologie und der Sozialisationsforschung, stellvertretend in deren renommierten Handbüchern, ob und wieweit sie diesen Zusammenhang theoretisch-analytisch berücksichtigen und stößt auf gravierende Defizite bzw. verkürzte theoretische Ansätze, die vornehmlich dem klassischen Paradigma der Medienwirkungsforschung geschuldet sind und die Medien primär für abweichende oder schädigende Entwicklung und Sozialisation verantwortlich machen. Ähnliche ungenügende oder verzerrende Befunde liefert die empirische Kindheits- und Jugendforschung. Deshalb sucht der Beitrag in seinem konstruktiven Teil zu begründen, warum eine interdisziplinäre Mediensozialisationsforschung erforderlich ist und ergiebig sein könnte, skizziert dafür paradigmatisch Koordinaten und Verläufe von Mediensozialisation und sucht sie in der Weiterentwicklung des sozialökologischen Modells zu veranschaulichen." "It is taken for granted, at least within the media-pedagogical discussion, that childhood and adolescence are phases widely determined by media. Consequently, development and socialisation of media would have to be influenced strongly. Based on this assumption this abstract makes enquiries, first of all among the disciplines concerned, namely developmental psychology and research of socialisation - represented in their renowned handbooks - whether and in how far they consider this correlation theoretically and analytically. At the same time it comes across serious deficits or incomplete theoretical approaches which are primarily owed to the classical paradigm of the studies of media effects and which make the media principally responsible for deviant or hurtful development and socialisation. Empiric childhood and youth studies provide similarly insufficient or distortionary findings. That is why the abstract tries to reason in its constructive section why there is a need for interdisciplinary studies of media socialisation and why it could be yielding. For this purpose it outlines paradigmatically coordinates and progressions of media socialisation and seeks to illustrate it within the continuous development of the socio-ecological model."
