(Autorenreferat)... view less

"In recent years approaches of adapting to the impacts of climate change as a complementary strategy to climate mitigation has become more and more important. In this context the management of water as a natural resource is an important field of action. Dynaklim, a research and network project funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), analyses the impacts of climate change on waters and the water infrastructure in the polycentrically structured Emscher-Lippe region (Ruhr Basin). On this basis strategies for a foresighted adaptation are developed. A new approach to water management - equal to a paradigm shift - is necessary in order to enable the relevant stakeholders of the region to solve problems commonly. For questions of spatial planning these strategies have the potential to support the involvement and balancing of different stakeholders and interests and to contribute to the implementation of sustainable solutions. Planning can hereby help to seize chances of regional renewal." (author's abstract)... view less
