'The penal law control was competely reorganized in the new federal states of Germany. Besides the introduction of federal German norms and justice structures an important point of the reorganization has been the personal replcement. This paper discusses the change of the professional motivations and the attitude patterns of the east policemen and lawyers who had been admitted to the police and justice authorities of the new federal states. The analysed narrative interviews show that the east German policemen and prosecutors rather adopted the former repressive orientations than decriminalizing practices.'
