Transnationale Kindheiten in postkolonialer Perspektive

Abstract

In dem Beitrag wird die These diskutiert, dass das Sein der Kinder ebenso wie die Vorstellungen und Konzepte von Kindheit, die sich seit dem späten Mittelalter in Europa herausgebildet haben, eng mit der Kolonialisierung anderer Erdteile verknüpft sind. Dabei werden aus postkolonialer Perspektive drei Dimensionen von Transnationalität identifiziert: Interdependenz von bürgerlichem Kindheitsprojekt und Kolonialisierung fremder Erdteile; Destruktion und Entwertung der Kindheiten in den ehemaligen Kolonialgebieten; Problematisierung des eurozentrisch-imperialen Kindheitsprojekts. Die Annahme, dass das in Europa entstandene Kindheitsmuster die Höchstform der Zivilisation repräsentiere und als weltweiter, transnationaler Maßstab dienen könne, wird als (post-)kolonial-imperiale Anmaßung zurückgewiesen. This paper discusses the thesis that the being of children, as well as the ideas and concepts of childhood that have emerged in Europe since the late Middle Ages, are closely linked to the colonialization of other parts of the world. Three dimensions of transnationality are identified from a post-colonial perspective: Interdependence of the bourgeois childhood project and the colonialization of foreign continents; destruction and devaluation of childhoods in the former colonial regions; problematization of the Eurocentric-imperial childhood project. The assumption that the pattern for childhood created in Europe represents the highest form of civilization and can serve as a global, transnational yardstick is rejected as a (post-)colonial-imperial presumption.
