It will also discuss which role the Social City-Programme plays in the main discourses about stigmatisation of urban neighbourhoods in Germany. In doing so Neighbourhood Branding concepts and subsequently compared them, are included. Neighbourhood Branding was developed in the Netherlands as an approach for reviving residential neighbourhoods by identifying the core values of the neighbourhood together with its residents in question and developing a common branding for it. The method used goes beyond a traditional marketing approach; it is rather embedded in a comprehensive urban regeneration process, mobilizing the affected people and developing an overall strategy to influence a neighbourhood’s image in a positive way.... view less
