Geniekünstler und KulturarbeiterInnen: von der Freiheit der Kunst zur Wertschöpfung durch Kreativität

Abstract

'Seit ungefähr zwei Jahrzehnten prägt die ökonomische Bedeutung von Kreativität den internationalen Kunst- und Kulturdiskurs. Ziel dieses Artikels ist es, die aktuellen Entwicklungen dieses Diskurses in einen größeren historischen Zusammenhang zu stellen. Sowohl das Bild des autonomen Geniekünstlers, das dem Menschenbild der Moderne und den ökonomischen Erfordernissen des aufstrebenden Kapitalismus entsprach, als auch die zahlreichen Strömungen, die sich gegen dieses KünstlerInnenbild wandten, finden sich im zeitgenössischen Verständnis von Kunst, Kultur und Kreativität wieder. Zugleich entspricht die Ökonomisierung in diesem Bereich auch generellen neoliberalen Entwicklungen. Diese Zusammenhänge werden anhand von Hegemonietheorien theoretisch eingeordnet und ihre praktischen Auswirkungen auf die Entwicklung der 'Creative Industries' und die ihnen tätigen KulturarbeiterInnen analysiert.' 'In the last two decades, the economic importance of creativity played an increasingly prominent role for discourses on culture and the arts. This article wants to understand the contemporary development in the context of a larger historical framework. Current approaches to creativity display different forms of comprehending artists and arts: the images of the genius artist, corresponding with the modern idea of man and the economic requirements of emerging capitalism, as well as several movements that criticize this understanding. At the same time, the economisation of creativity corresponds to more general neo-liberal concepts of society and economy. This connectedness finally is being discussed against the background of theories of hegemony and is being assessed with regard to the practical consequences for the creative industries and the cultural creatives.'
